Led the charge in developing a multimedia MVP for a billion-dollar sports entertainment titan, crafting an innovative platform to humanize athletes and engage a broader audience. Utilizing React, React Native, and Contentful, our team delivered an engaging solution ahead of schedule, fostering a deeper connection between sports icons and fans across various media. This project not only won us a pivotal client but also set a new benchmark for digital storytelling in sports.

Project Overview

Tasked with a mission to transcend traditional sports media boundaries, our project aimed at constructing a multimedia MVP for a billion-dollar sports entertainment conglomerate. Faced with the challenge of organizing and delivering terabytes of content in an engaging manner, our goal was to humanize the athletes, connecting them with a diverse audience beyond the typical sports fan base. Leveraging finalized branding elements, our responsibility was to breathe life into the platform with innovative technology.

My Role

As the project lead and account manager for our digital product studio, I served as the primary liaison between our client and our internal team, orchestrating the development of the MVP. My role extended to product management, guiding a collaborative effort involving our developers, the client's DevOps team, our designer, and stakeholders from both companies. This initiative was not just about project management; it was about fostering a partnership to realize a shared vision.

Technologies Used

The backbone of our platform was built using React and React Native, with Contentful managing the multimedia content. This tech stack enabled us to create a seamless, cross-platform experience that could efficiently handle the extensive content library.

Challenges Overcome

Securing this project was our first victory, achieved through an intensive internal design sprint inspired by the "Design Sprint" methodology. Our collaborative brainstorming honed in on three core content types: text (blogs), video (vlogs, behind-the-scenes content), and audio (podcasts). By adopting a dual-track sprint schedule, we kept design a step ahead of development, ensuring client feedback was incorporated and approved before any code was written—a strategy that proved essential in delivering an MVP that exceeded expectations.

Results & Impact

The success of this project was multifaceted: securing and delivering for a high-profile client, completing the MVP ahead of schedule through efficient project management, and facilitating the client's presentation to their board. This not only solidified our reputation but also ensured our continued involvement as consultants, marking a significant milestone for our digital product agency. The project was a testament to our ability to innovate, collaborate, and deliver, paving the way for future opportunities and sustained business growth.
